Collaborative Expertise: Driving Success in Tourism Projects
In our professional lives, we each bring unique skills to the table. As a tourism marketing consultant, one of the most rewarding aspects of my role is working collaboratively with other experts to deliver a comprehensive range of services to clients. Collaboration with architects and planners, accountants, lawyers, and fellow tourism consultants ensures businesses receive tailored solutions to meet their goals.
A great example of this synergy is working with architects and planners to assist businesses in the accommodation sector. Whether helping a client launch a new accommodation business or expand an existing offering, planning permission is often a key hurdle. Planners are more likely to approve an application when a clear case demonstrates the business’s potential for success. This is where I come in, offering tourism business plans that provide:
- Alignment with national and tourism strategies,
- Projections for occupancy rates and pricing,
- Insights into current tourism trends,
- Competitor analysis,
- Identification of the target market and tailored marketing strategies.
This approach not only helps secure planning approval but also equips clients with actionable insights to make informed project decisions. My expertise in tourism marketing ensures the architectural design aligns with the target audience’s needs, whether it’s glamping facilities requiring outdoor amenities or internal design features elevating the guest experience.

Beyond architects and planners, I’ve partnered with other tourism consultants to help businesses enhance their operations. From customer service improvements and funding acquisition to comprehensive marketing strategies, this unified approach ensures all business aspects align under one vision and shared objectives.
When working with Boards of Trustees, staff teams, or other stakeholders, I facilitate collaboration so everyone contributes to and supports the outcomes. This creates a sense of ownership and commitment, ensuring recommendations are implemented successfully.

The Value of Teamwork
At Fiona Drane Marketing, I offer flexibility in contributing to projects. I can:
- Manage a project, bringing in other specialists as needed, or
- Collaborate as a team, working under a project manager to provide marketing expertise.
Collaboration is at the heart of success. As Desmond Tutu wisely said:
“How could you have a soccer team if all were goalkeepers? How would it be an orchestra if all were French horns?”
Every successful project is like a team; each person brings unique strengths to achieve a shared goal.
